Event information
boci is a Bradford-born, Bristol-based violinist, songwriter, and vocalist, known for her pure, emotive voice and her ability to craft ethereal alt-folk soundscapes. With a unique blend of classical training and expressive, improvisational violin playing, she creates intricate, evolving layers of sound through live-looping, building cinematic textures that unfold in real-time. Drawing inspiration from traditional European folk styles, boci’s violin becomes a powerful voice in her music, delivering both emotional depth and unrestrained creativity.
Her work is deeply rooted in her love for nature, particularly the landscapes of Scotland, Wales, and the Lake District, which inspire much of her songwriting. boci’s debut album, we are each other, this will set us free (2022), was a raw exploration of personal transformation through grief and the healing power of universal connection. The album, which reflects her deep gratitude for the peace and unity found in nature, received widespread praise from outlets such as Songlines (⭑⭑⭑⭑), BBC 6 Music (described as "disarmingly fresh and life-affirming"), and BBC Introducing. Its release was followed by two successful headline UK tours, selling out venues across the country.
Now, boci is touring her sophomore album, scenes from uniXia—a concept album that transports listeners to a distant, dreamlike world. Recorded in Stroud with producer Rob Pemberton (The Staves, Maja Lena), the album features contributions from some of Bristol’s finest musicians, including t l k and Archie Churchill-Moss. Each track serves as a musical portrait, capturing a moment or scene from a journey through the mystical realm of uniXia.
