Event information
Man Rei is the ongoing project of Estonian-born artist Kristin Reiman. As Man Rei, they meld fragmented lyrics, mangled voices, smeared samples and hazy guitar loops into foggy walls of sound.
Reiman’s Man Rei alias runs tangentially to their art practice, where they use sound, speech, and writing to explore the discomfort and malaise of human consciousness through various uncanny outputs.
Man Rei's 2024 album. 'Thread', was included in Boomkat's albums of the year.
'Man Rei, elevates and expands the choral tradition of their Baltic homeland with the smudged drift of this quietly epic new album. A moody, dimly lit summoning of ambient music touched by the enduring influence of classic dreampop, it’s a record full of pared-down arrangements and luxurious instrumentation, elevated by goosebump inducing vocals' - Boomkat.
Gayle Brogan performs solo under the name Pefkin, creating slowly-unfolding, ritualistic hymnals that draw heavily on the landscape and natural world, using processed violin / viola, electronics, voice and field recordings. She has released albums internationally on labels such as Morc, Wild Silence, Nite Hive, Folklore Tapes and Sonido Polifonico. She is also one half of innovative folk duo Burd Ellen, a third of psychedelic electric folk trio Meadowsilver, and has collaborated with cult Irish singer-songwriter Alison O'Donnell and modular synth composer Jonathan Sharp.
