Event information
Live at the Betsey Trotwood, Farringdon, London. Sunday 13th April. Matinee gig. 4pm - 7pm.
Keiron Phelan & Peace Signs return to the Betsey Trotwood for the first London gig since the release of their critically acclaimed fourth album 'The Whole Band Just Turned Mellow' ( ***** RnR, **** Shindig! ) in a lazy Sunday matinee kinda vibe. Joined by Gare du Nord label mates, The Last of the Lovely Days, and featuring a Papernut Cambridgesque set from GnD maestro, Ian Button.
Keiron Phelan & Peace Signs present an elegant fusion of ‘70s tinged baroque art-pop. From Bacharach to Bolan and back again, with a touch of Abbey Road fabs, a sigh of Scott Walker, and superbly inventive musicianship. Imagine a more upfront Neil Hannon fronting Cockney Rebel Mk.1 and you're on the right peace march.
The Last of the Lovely Days make their London debut showcasing songs from forthcoming album ‘That’s No Public House Talk’. This four piece Brighton band creates a unique slant on catchy indie-pop music. Fronted by singer/songwriter, Annie, the band perform a mix of the eclectic and melodic, inspired by all of their favourite things - jangly indie pop, 60s girl groups, 80s new wave (and whatever else they fancy)
Papernut Cambridge has been Ian Button’s songwriting vehicle since 2013, blending retro pop, brit-psych and indie, and backed by a loose collective of bandmates and collaborators - Shindig! called the band “..a C86 version of The Faces”. This year Gare du Nord releases a retrospective PC compilation - but Button’s solo set may also include snippets from his recent alias Toni Tubna, and his latest collab project with Allan Crockford, The Penrose Web.
