TERESA HACKEL
The recorder player Teresa Hackel was born in Berlin and has lived and worked in Switzerland since 2005. Her focus is free improvisation, a non-idiomatic music which is invented in the moment. She is keen to search for strange and unconventional sounds on the different types of the recorder and she is inspired by contemporary compositions for this wonderful and often underestimated instrument. In her playing she values listening – there is no unnecessary sound, just the music that comes by itself. Teresa was awarded the 3rd Prize at the Concours Nicati for interpreters of contemporary music in Bern and she took part in different Swiss premieres. In 2018 the CD Solare was released with pieces of Fausto Romitelli, in 2022 she released the CD Zustandsformen with the guitar player Karin Rüdt. She has played in several projects and ensembles, currently she is a member of the Insubordination Meta Orchestra. Regularly she plays the Cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach with the “J.S.Bach-Stiftung”, conducted by Rudolf Lutz.

TONY HARDIE-BICK
Tony Hardie-Bick is a musician and entrepreneur whose interests in electronics and music overlap significantly. An early musical epiphany while touring with legendary punk band Sham 69 inspired him to design and build a series of digital musical instruments Commercial success followed with his design for the world’s first touch screen that responds to the sound of fingertip impacts.
Tony’s recent return to musical instrument design has seen his distorting filter algorithms licensed to Ableton in 2022, followed by the construction of apparatus for listening to the sound of cities, live, in real time, anywhere in the world. The city sounds are filtered and distorted using a radical new instrument, as yet unnamed, in dialogue with other musicians.

MARIO GUARNIERI
Mario is a London-based free-improvisational drummer collaborating and playing live with different combos of musicians. He is part of the Lo Fi Ensemble workshops and attends the London Improvisation Workshop. Mario also releases his solo work of experimental/electronic music on Bandcamp under the moniker of Patasonus. Some of his improvisation recordings, as well as his solo work has been broadcast on Resonance FM and Soho Radio. During the 90's and 00's Mario was the drummer with The Positively Testcard, known mainly for their live performances of upbeat and very danceable Kwela tunes. Performances included Glastonbury 2007 (Left Field Stage), and live sessions for BBC Radio programmes such as: Andy Kershaw and (the late) Charlie Gillett, plus appearances on Loose Ends, The Arts Hour, Mel and Sue, Phil Jupitus and more.

SIMON LAWSON
Simon is a saxophone and clarinet player. He played many pop and jazz gigs in the eighties and nineties including the Soho Jazz festival with Michael Horovitz and Dick Heckstall-Smith, alongside a residency at the BBC World Service bar. After a hiatus concentrating on the visual arts he has recently directed his musical passion to free improvisation after joining the Lo-fi Improvised Music Workshop in 2022 and more recently frequenting the London Improvisation Workshop. He can now be found regularly performing in satellite groups derived from these. He recently played the newly formed Improvox night at the Bridewell Theatre Bar in a duet with Matt Scott on accordion and is currently playing alongside Mario Guarnieri in a drums and sax duo as Mario and Me.

ANDREA BOLZONI
Andrea has a background as a jazz guitarist, and has been involved with improvised music for the last 15 years. He has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Electroacoustic Composition from the Milan Conservatory, and is currently a PhD student in AI and Music Creativity at The Open University. Andrea was a member and co-founder of Swedish Mobilia and Raw Frame, and performed in clubs and festivals in Italy, France and Eastern Europe. He released a solo album in 2015, ‘amI?’, and more recently ‘Music from the Lounge’, in duo with Francesco Zago, for Creative Sources.
