Event information
CINEMAGIC SHORT FILM SHOWCASE - We are excited to screen four new films produced as part of our outreach, skills development and international programmes. Trainee filmmakers produced 'Harmony In Our Hearts', 'Bindings' and 'Dead Ends' from script to screen, under the guidance of creative industry professionals.
'An Olive Branch' was part of an innovative Cinemagic designed project, providing 'Generations for Peace' young creatives with comprehensive filmmaking training, culminating in the production of their own film.
HARMONY IN OUR HEARTS - Two rival choirs, only one 'Choir of the Year' cup! Will Harmony reign supreme or will her dubious motives send both choirs off note and mess with their ambitions and their hearts? 'Harmony in Our Hearts' was delivered as part of Cinemagic’s cross border activities supported by The Department for Education Ireland.
BINDINGS - Conor is trying to shed the baggage of his past when he enters ‘Paul's Bookshop’. Trying to untether himself from the memories held in his dad's beat up paperbacks in an attempt to disconnect from an overwhelming loss, he instead finds a purpose in a simple connection.
DEAD ENDS - An ex-convict is starting fresh, he has found a job and is ready to reinvent himself. However, on his first day he is met with a series of strange encounters; rooms full of blood, guns being passed around and suspicious activity from everyone he meets. He begins to believe his new start has brought him right back to where he started.
'Bindings' and 'Dead Ends' are the 2024/25 Cinemagic BFI Film Academy short films. BFI Film Academy is delivered by Cinemagic, Nerve Centre and Amma Centre and is supported by the UK government’s Department for Education, National Lottery, Northern Ireland Screen and Screen Scotland.
AN OLIVE BRANCH - The story of a displaced family’s journey to a better future, showcasing the resilience and determination of young people facing adversity.
'An Olive Branch' is the culmination of the Filmi Programme, a programme implemented by 'Generations for Peace' in partnership with Cinemagic, with the support from the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Ireland in Jordan.
