Event information
Feisty heroine Kat Cooke returns to the Tudor court, where danger lurks around every corner and even love is uncertain.
Now a musician for Anne Boleyn, Kat struggles to keep her marriage afloat as she balances her loyalties, risking her heart and her life. In The Duty of Women, Queen Anne champions new ideas and liberties, but the glamour and brilliance of Anne’s reign hide the tragedy of her fate. As a queen without a male heir, she is betrayed by powerful men, including those she loved.
In the second instalment of her Tudor Queens series, Caroline Willocks gives readers an inside view of the dangerous games Tudor women must play to defend their power, their passions, and their lives.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
JOHN PARE was born in a cold and draughty Vicarage in Hertfordshire and was educated at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield and the University of Kent. He qualified as a Solicitor and spent his career in Shropshire. After retirement he moved to Bromyard in Herefordshire where he now lives with his second wife Caroline. While his very first poems were written before qualification, John considers that his career in words and the regular drafting of some complex documents has made juggling words to get the right rhythm, and any rhyme scheme, easier.
John started writing poetry when at university - it was to help his then fiancée with an assignment. She got good marks and ever since John has written poetry. His book Poems Please consists of 4 sections, Nature’s Realm, Travels, Wordplay and The Beloved (which is about me). John enjoys using traditional poetic forms but also experiments with blank verse and haiku settings. His mood ranges from the comic, to the passionate, to evocative descriptions of the beauty of the natural world. Many of his poems are set around the Herefordshire town of Bromyard and its surroundings. Poems Please covers his writings from 1969 to the end of 2017. There are many more poems to come.
