Event information
Antisect are one of the most influential bands to come out of the vibrant early 80’s UK punk scene.
Mixing metal riffs, punk energy and dark post punk textures with politically astute lyrics, the band have had a huge influence on thrash, extreme metal, crust, D-beat and hardcore.
Debut album ‘In Darkness There Is No Choice’ released on Flux Of Pink Indians Spiderleg Records made the top 10 of the UK indie charts when released in 1983. It’s Discharge meets Killing Joke intensity stood the band apart from their UK punk contemporaries and 1985’s ground breaking 7’’ ‘Out From the Void’, another top 10 indie hit, saw Antisect become one of the first punk bands to fully incorporate metal into their sound. At a time when the likes of Metallica and Slayer were drawing on punk and hardcore to push metal into a new direction, Antisect were at the forefront of a new crossover sound.
After a two decade hiatus, Antisect returned to the stage in 2011, touring worldwide ever since and in 2017 the bands second album ‘The Rising Of The Lights’ was released by Lee Dorain (Napalm Death/Cathedral) record label, Rise Above Records. The album continues the bands exploration of metal riffing alongside dark musical passages with passionate, thought provoking lyrics. It’s a great, groove laden album.
Last year, Rise Above gave the delux reissue treatment to ‘In Darkness There Is No Choice’.
Antisect very rarely play in the UK and this is your chance to catch one of the heaviest of UK bands live with great support from abrasive noise rock band Cast Courts and Plymouth punks Cold Showers.
