To mark Bradford City of Culture in 2025 the Topic Folk Club is gathering together folk songs about people and/or groups who work to make our District a welcoming and supportive place.
We want songs about people who are making things better in Bradford right now. Songs about historical figures that have lived in Bradford District and helped to make it great are also welcomed.
There are no age restrictions. Songs in a language other than English are welcomed (an English translation is needed).
The workshop will be led by Nick Hall and Michelle Plum of Plumhall.
Plumhall are:
Michelle Plum (ex Chumbawamba, ex Chris Norman Band) and Nick Hall (ex Magna Carta, The Hall Brothers, Ian Prowse & Amsterdam): singer, songwriters and musicians based in Bradford.

During their career, they have written and recorded three acclaimed albums, had their songs covered by other artists and appeared onstage with such luminaries as Al Stewart (at the London Palladium), Fairport Convention (on tour and at Cropredy Festival), Ralph McTell (at Cropredy Festival), Steve Knightley, Phil Beer and Larry Campbell. At their first ever concert together they ended up singing Daydream Believer with Peter Tork of The Monkees!

Last year they performed a storming set at Costa Festival Ibiza and toured as special guests of Fairport Convention - even briefly fronting the band on Who Knows Where The Time Goes and Meet On The Ledge on the first two shows while a band member recovered from illness.

Michelle and Nick have a great deal of experience in running a variety of song-writing workshops and presentations, having done so for the White Ribbon Project, Otley Courthouse, Bradford Shuttle Shuffle Festival, York Access To Music, New Forest Folk Festival and many more organisations.

Their approach is supportive and inclusive and they welcome people with all levels of experience - from total novices to seasoned pros.
