AX Presents Modessa with support from Marvin's Revenge and Call Me Franco.
Modessa
Hailing from the south coast of England, Modessa have made a name for themselves as an emerging force within Brighton’s grassroots scene. Their sound, powered by heavy riffs, distinct vocals, and punchy drumbeats, is infused with blues-rock grooves, pop-style lyricism, and grunge-esque raw energy. Modessa bridges sub-rock genres, spanning Alternative, Hard Rock, and Desert Rock.
In 2024, they garnered attention with acclaimed singles “Running Around” and “Take It or Leave It” (both earning airplay on BBC Introducing Sussex and Surrey), a standout set on the 2000 Trees Festival’s Forest Stage, and cutting vinyl with “Burning” as part of the Small Pond Emerging Vol. IV compilation. Having already made a mark on the local scene, Modessa are ready to push their sound even further for 2025 with new releases and upcoming shows in the works.
Marvin's Revenge
Marvin’s Revenge are an alternative rock band originally from the UK midlands, now based in Nottingham. The band are Luke Eaton (bass/vocals), Oliver Sammels-Moore (Guitar) and Job Gregory (Drums). Their sound has hints of The Jesus Lizard grunge fuzz, Pixies dark melodies, and the hardcore explorations of Fugazi. Following the release of their climactic late 2023 EP “VR Porn”, the band left 2024 on a high with their new single “Hugs from grandma”, featuring two bonus tracks “Big Snake” and “Eating Flowers.” This release showcases their best material to date, with each track showing off a diversity of strengths in the band’s respective genres.
Call Me Franco
Radically blending multiple genres into a boiling hot psychedelic soup, Call Me Franco explore the frenzied notions of insanity, altered states and ego death within the surreal and conceptual bounds of progressive rock. Hailing from Brighton, UK, Call Me Franco is the virtuosic love-child of lynchpin guitarist Ernesto Diaz, the down-right stylistic, jazz-fusion-cool of bassist Adham Armenti and veracious, hypnotic infections of drummer Fin Anderson.
