Event information
Re-establishing the Worthing - Detroit connection, following our party with the Detroit Techno Militia crew in 2023, we present a very special night of underground music, featuring 2 celebrated artists, direct from the Motor City, in what is their only UK show as part of a mini-European tour.
Soiree Records International is a long-established label in Detroit, set up in 1990 by Derrick Thompson (aka Drivetrain) to focus on deep house, late night grooves and intelligent electronic rhythm concepts, it has consistently been putting out quality deep underground music for over 30 years, providing a showcase for a host of underground artists from Detroit and beyond.
As a producer, Derrick has released countless timeless records through Soiree and other labels under his Drivetrain monicker, as well as others such as Lockstep (as far back as '92) and Pleasure Device and still bringing the goods today, with a slew of recent vinyl releases from Soiree that have been constantly in our record bags at recent parties.
Similarly, J.Garcia has been building his reputation in Detroit as a producer since 2010, with releases on Soiree, Cryovac Recordings, RF and Parker Music Works. He also produces locally distributed Hip Hop Beat tapes and has made contributions to the Detroit based beat label Common and Normal.
As DJs, both Drivetrain and J bring it like only those from Detroit home grown artists can. J. Garcia has been passionately honing his craft in bars, clubs and festivals around Detroit for the past 25 years and is part of the local DJ collective known as House Gallery Detroit who have been staple on the underground scene there since 2007. Drivetrain has been doing his thing since the start of Detroit's 2nd wave and has been there in the city repping ever since, so you know that these are two artists that know how to get down and will be bringing the spirit and raw soul power of the Detroit underground direct to Worthing for one night only.
Supporting them, as usual, will be Worthing's very own resident home-grown DJ Collective, Worthing Techno Militia, so expect a night of the deepest shades of underground dance music, celebrating the spirit of Detroit, the Motor City, the birthplace of this music we call Techno!
