I did a bad thing. That’s how I ended up here. That’s how all kids like me end up at Wildsmoor
Facility, by doing bad things. We stuff it down and try to hide and swallow the burning inside, but
eventually it comes out.
Emily Emerson has the Grimm. A disease nobody wants. Removed to a facility called Wildsmoor, she becomes property of the state, a pale shadow of her real self. Here she meets a group of teenagers called the Cure who are determined to harness their gifts and free themselves from
this prison and the Guardians looking over them. One of the boys in the group called Emir, reassures Emily that she’s not sick – she’s just different. Only by dreaming can they break out of the world that’s keeping them locked away. And perhaps – make a better future . . .
A Better Nightmare is a dark and spectacular contemporary fantasy full of heart racing twists and turns, as a courageous group of teenagers fight for their right to exist and embrace their unique powers.
Published 13th March 2025 by Chicken House (UK) and
4th February by Scholastic (US).
