Event information
We loved Amy Douglas' first visit to us, so invited her back for our birthday special - something a bit different, we said... and this is the result! We invite you to a no-holds barred rendition of Viking Mythology by two top performers who thoroughly know both their mythology and their craft – Internationally renowned storyteller and author Amy Douglas, and Jason Buck, award winning storyteller, bring a bawdy and rowdy collection of authentic Viking myths that don't normally make it to polite family viewing.
Viking Mythology is high energy, in-yer-face stuff – no wonder the creators of comic hero characters love the stories. Forget the adapted screen versions, here’s some of the source material, swearing, drinking, murder, sex, violence, a god tying his unmentionables to a goat for cheap laughs and all.
Definitely 16+, definitely highly entertaining, definitely not to be missed!
What they said about these two storytellers: "Amy is a passionate and get down dirty performer and servant to the art of storytelling. If you find something exciting and out of the box going on, there's a good chance she is behind it". (Tracey Collins )
"If you haven't seen Jason, it's worth it, just to see his impression of a sexy horse",( Lorna, Derbyshire. )
"Jason Buck is a man made of myth, magic and mead. His stories are filled with adventure, his beard is full of unexpected twists and his tankard filled with a poet's brew. Sit around the fire and listen to his tales - you won't be disappointed." (Abbie, West Sussex)
All this in the very comfortable surroundings of the Quaker Meeting house, where instead of sloshing mead around we'll be revelling in good company and in Janet’s superb home baked cakes. Leave the chain mail behind, come and enjoy the stories!
