UK Industrial legends Attrition headline a very special Stripped in September
Formed in Coventry in 1980 by Martin Bowes and Julia Niblock. The band emerged from the experimental post-punk scene of the early 1980s and, along with other groups such as Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Einstürzende Neubauten, and In the Nursery, greatly contributed to the development of industrial music in the UK. From being part of the DIY and Cassette Culture scene in the 80s through to the release of The Black Mariah, Attririon's diversity has kept them on the cutting edge of dark music since their inception.
The Ultimate Dreamers were influenced by Belgian coldwave and British post-punk but the teenagers set upon their own path. Frigid, organic tones with tainted with melancholy melodies, sometimes catchy, sometimes verging on the dissonant, serve as a backdrop for themes dominated by raw dreams, distressed love and social criticism. Between 1986 and 1990, they wrote and self-recorded numerous tracks, which resurfaced in 2020.
The repertoire is exhumed, resuscitated and enriched with new creations, which they will bring back to the Black Bull following on from their successful tour last year
opening up will be Novyi Lef, (it's pronounced "No-Wee-Leff")
Taking their name from a 1920's Soviet arts publication, NOVYI LEF (pronounced No-wee Leff) offer an angry, political take on electroclash, plying their trade in architectural punk via analogue synth screams and squeals. The result is a very striking cold electronic sound, almost similar to some aspects of NDW, and early 80s british synth music from the industrial north with a modern twist.
