Event information
One of our very favourite travelling troubadours is back with his merry musicians, after a triumphant return and sell-out gig in January at The Fisherman's Arms, this time though, playing for us at The Nursery Inn.
"Moreno’s warm voice engrosses and soothes. Meditative one moment and despairing the next, these unhurried songs offer spiritual succour and solidarity, a balm for our trying times"
- Morning Star ★★★★★
“The songs tread a path between Folk, Latin and cabaret torch song. It’s an oddly effective mix which forms the perfect bed for Gabriel Moreno’s distinctive voice -a blend of Leonard Cohen, Peter Sarstedt, and dare I say it, Rex Harrison.” -(Trevor Raggart, RNR magazine)
“Moreno has indeed given us an album of the times.” (Mike Davis, Folk Radio UK)“An Offshoot of Leonard Cohen and Neil Diamond. I love it!” (Cerys Mathews, BBC6)
Gabriel will be playing songs from his new record ‘Nights In The Belly of Bohemia’’ which will be his sixth studio album by The entire album is an ode to the Bohemian experience which is understood here as a liminal space to resist the harsher realities of modern life and the capitalist debacle. The songs yearn for deeper connections and more poetical realities where romance, music, kindness, longing, poetry and human bonds overcome profit and marketing techniques. The idea was to create a pan-European sound where Bohemia transcended borders. The album was then mixed in the pirate town of Ramsgate and mastered in Zaragoza, Spain, to complete the cosmopolitan sound. Moreno is setting off an album tour in April to promote the new record., as we are over the moon he is stopping off in Hartlepool as part of this tour.
The evening will also celebrate Poetry, Spoken word and Music from local poets and musicians (yet to be confirmed), keep an eye on PinDrop's and Gab's socials for more news on that.
