Event information
A Saturday night of barn-storming, blues-infused Irish, American and English folk music at Jamboree with The Thumping Tommys, with support from ace singer-songwriter Taliesin.
Headliners The Thumping Tommys play a mix of lively barn-dancing bluegrass, passionate folk ballads, heartfelt original compositions steeped in the blues tradition and unique interpretations of popular songs, and have have made their mark on the club and festival circuit all over Europe, sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in Folk, such as the Fairport Convention, Clannad, Fishermans Friends and Show of Hands, as well as supporting artists such as Bryan Adams. Now in their third incarnation, The Tommys are soon to release their second studio album of original music - 'The Sharp Turns of Life' - out this summer!
Support on the night comes from the solo singer-songwriter Taliesin, casting a concoction of fingerpicked melodies, permeating lyrics and adventurous harmony. With influences from the likes of Bill Withers and John Martyn, and inspired People, Community and Nature, Taliesin takes a liquid approach to performance where each show is unique in character, and each song re-animates itself. His first EP 'Any Given Moment' details some of his earliest works to date, where folk meets soul and the quirks of character and rasp are allowed to soar.
