Event information
COLA JET SET (ES) were formed in 2001 by Felipe, after the split of his previous band Los Fresones Rebeldes, on and off again since 2014. They specialise in pristine pop music, taking influences from the fifties, sixties and beyond and producing something quite unique and beautiful. They’ve had some lineup changes down the years and each formation produces something a little different, but always interesting. We are thrilled to be hosting their first London performance for many years.
THE UNDERSTUDIES (UK) are Brian, Bree, Ian, Emma, Thom & Kris. Formed in 2008, they have developed a reputation for live performances that are equal parts Bad Seeds intensity, Auteurs irreverence and Tindersticks intimacy. Following up the acclaimed 2019 album If Destroyed True with new material has renewed their vitality and continues the forward momentum with further gigs, new songs and new recordings due soon.
SAMANTHA WHATES (UK) Scottish singer-songwriter and Rough Trade Records recording artist Samantha Whates is a hugely respected figure on the folk & roots scene. Her beautifully crafted, poetic songs retain a strong affinity with her Scottish roots, cultivating a sound that is thoroughly contemporary, rooted in tradition, yet uniquely her own. Her debut album Dark Nights Make For Brighter Days enjoyed both critical acclaim and extensive radio play (BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, KCRW, Resonance FM). Samantha’s new album Waiting Rooms, recorded entirely on location in various waiting rooms around the UK, is out now on Wonderfulsound.
