It's the Wingerworth Comedy Club CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!

We’re pushing the boat out with three amazing acts off the telly, a double show to deal with demand (please come or Christmas is cancelled...) and big festive laughs right here on your doorstep, all presented by your (local resident...) resident MC Carl Jones!

Tickets for both shows (4pm and 8pm) are below - please select the show you want to attend carefully and note a slight temporary price increase for the 8pm show which will return to £15 in 2026 - and prices frozen for the matinee for what will be one of the best lineups in the UK this year!

A sensational live performer, Yorkshire man, marathon runner and former (double award-winning) Time Out Comedian of the Year, Paul Tonkinson has long upheld his esteemed reputation as one of the finest stand-ups the UK has to offer.
With a unique and distinctive style, Tonkinson is noted for his effervescent physicality and skillful impressions, which bring alive exuberant, tender comic reflections on love, family and the day-to-day idiosyncrasies of 21st century living. A plethora of first class material, combined with tremendous charm and irrepressible, infectious energy make for quite a formidable talent.

After many years of storming the circuit, and much badgering from fellow professionals, he took to the road in 2012 with his eagerly anticipated debut tour: Paul Tonkinson; Fancy Man. The tour took in 50 dates across the UK, and gave audiences the opportunity to experience the full Tonkinson phenomena in all it’s glory.

Michael Mcintyre's programme associate and a regular tour support of arena tours for over a decade, he's been spotted on Celebrity Come Dine With Me, to a stint presenting The Big Breakfast back in the day, when he was a mere whippersnapper.

His first love remains stand-up, and Tonkinson remains in great demand in the UK and across the globe, performing at all the major international comedy festivals including the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs festival where he hosted the esteemed Britcom Gala.

Confirming his status as an invincible and highly versatile performer, he is also a regular entertainer for the UK Armed Forces, and has performed in Afghanistan and Iraq; playing to 2,500 troops in 45 degree heat in the middle of the desert.

SEETA WRIGHTSON

BBC New Comedy Awards Semi-Finalist and a regular on the comedy circuit up and down the UK, Bradford-born, Leeds-based comedian Seeta Wrightson is making her name as a mixed-race, mixed-up and erratic tour de force of comedy.

From humble (AKA very skint) beginnings growing up in Bradford, Seeta has wandered through life wondering where exactly she fits and has had a hell of an adventure figuring it out. And it is a never-ending stream of ridiculousness that provides the fodder for her comedy.

An advocate for global majority comedians and a more diverse comedy scene, Seeta facilitates comedy workshops to help clear space for voices too often overlooked.

WHY ARE THERE TWO TICKET OPTIONS AT DIFFERENT PRICES?

Because we're running TWO SHOWS! The 4pm matinee is frozen at our usual price of £15 while the 8pm show is a little higher at £18 to secure this wonderful lineup. Don't worry - prices will return to £15 in 2026!

WILL YOU BE SERVING ALCOHOL?

We will be running ‘bring your own booze’ again and will NOT be serving alcohol. You’re welcome to bring your own and we hope to have some light refreshments available on the night for a small fee.

CAN I BRING CHILDREN?

The minimum age for this event is 15. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Please bear in mind that the comedians will be using strong language and adult themes throughout.

I DON’T WANT TO PAY A BOOKING FEE - CAN I GET TICKETS OFFLINE?

Yes! The team at The Barley Mow are supporting this event and you can buy tickets from behind the bar while stocks last. Please do hang around for a drink and/or food and help us support our local pub through this event.

WHAT TIME WILL THE NIGHT FINISH?

We anticipate our headline act will be finishing around two and and a half hours after show start - so approximately 6.30pm on the early show and 10.30pm on the late, when we’ll be encouraging everyone to head to the Barley Mow for last orders!

I’VE SEEN BABY REINDEER - CAN I CHAT DURING THE ACTS, HECKLE, BREAK INTO SONG OR FOLLOW ANY OF THE ACTS HOME?

Please don’t! Wingerworth isn’t really on the comedy map (yet…) and all of our acts are trusting us that it’s going to be a fabulous audience. So bring your laughing gear and let’s have another great night. Our (local resident…) resident MC Carl is unable to hang anyone’s curtains.

IS THERE RESERVED SEATING?

All our seating is unreserved. The front row isn’t as daunting a place as people think, but if you do turn up late then we can’t promise that won’t be the only seats left…

WHERE CAN I PARK?

The venue has very limited parking so we’d encourage walking or being dropped off wherever possible. The Barley Mow have kindly offered their car park as an overflow so why not park your car there and have a drink before joining us? #supportyourlocalpub
