Event information
Eve Goodman & and Sarah Zyborska’s collaboration began when the two were
selected as BBC Horizons Artists in 2019. Both folk singer-songwriters, with rising
solo careers, grew up in Caernarfon and shared the same music scene, but had
never collaborated creatively before. Being part of Horizons brought them together
and after just one writing session they found common ground; women and nature.
Surrounded by the beautiful North Wales landscape that is such an important part of
their lives they began to explore the Welsh names for birds and insects, fish and
trees. Soon enough a body of work was growing, each song a hymn of love to
‘natur’.
Inspired by the ‘Lost Words - Spells Songs’ project, their songwriting became a way
of breathing more life into the Welsh words seldom used or known by most for the
plants and beings in nature, and as the project grew, into the depths and territories of
the women’s cycle that are often left unexplored in society and songs. The album is
a celebration of cycles. From the fertile seeds of inspiration, to the composting of
death and letting go.
To date they have written 10 songs together, released two singles, reached the finals
for Welsh song contest ‘Can i Gymru’, performed together at Maida Vale, on Heno,
S4C, Ty Gwerin at the 2022 Eisteddfod and Between the Trees festival.
