MMIS is proud to be bringing together the collective awesomeness of Junk Whale and Nathy SG for a co-headline show at Delicious Clam, Sheffield.
Junk Whale (Ali, Hannah, Jenny and Josie) have been a band since 2017, self-releasing their first album two years later, and an EP on Reckless Yes in 2022. They play fuzzy emo tunes like the ones you liked when you were a teenager, but about being tired thirty-somethings. After a little rest, they're back with a new EP full of fun and upbeat singalong bangers about mental illness, grief and friendship breakups.
Nathy SG is the new project from North East songwriter Nathan Stephens-Griffin (Martha / Onsind). His debut was a 2 track 7” Corporate Lawyer and Broken Ankle Song, released via his own DIY label Cowie Jaw Recordings, which showcased his songwriting at its catchy and sardonic best. He has enlisted a team of DIY legends for his live set up, including Laura Kovic (Fortitude Valley/Tigercats), Jason Cavalier (Supermilk/Onsind/Honey Joy), Charlie Jamison (Supermilk) and Michael Craig (Cortney Dixon)
Pink Opaque are a Futurepop synth duo motivated by joy, a mirrorball driven by a ZX Spectrum, a midnight kiss at a winter bus stop, a broken snowglobe you can't throw away. Good honest electronica from Yorkshire with a glittery face, a messy human heart, and a Sugababes cover with a Super Mario Kart sample. Members Danielle Cope and Pete Green are familiar to some from The Sweet Nothings.
