‘Monkin’ Around’ was born at the Troubadour in London’s Earls Court. Dave had completed a tour in 2019 with guitarist Rob Luft where they played all 70-odd compositions by Thelonious Monk.
Not wanting this hard work to go to waste, it was suggested that the repertoire be further
adapted, first for trio, or quartet in venues hosting a suitable piano. The project album ‘4 in1’ is recently released by Ubuntu music and has been warmly reviewed.
The music is beautifully captured and the playing is crisp and lively. Jazz Views
