Event information
Step aboard the historic lightship LV21 in celebration of the Shipping Forecast.
‘Dogger, Fisher, German Bight’: Charlie Connelly brings the shipping forecast vividly to life in this hilarious and moving celebration of an iconic cultural institution. Charlie explores the broadcast’s remarkable history, unlocks its beguiling mysteries and tells riproaring stories of his own adventures among the sea areas, ensuring the forecast will never sound the same again.
Ahead of the live performance ticket holders are invited to explore the decks and an exhibition featuring a selected collection of Shipping Forecast themed artwork by the acclaimed Kent based artist, writer and lecturer Cas Holmes, whose textile work is often inspired by her life, the journeys she makes, the places she visits and people she meets.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO NOTE REGARDING DIRECTIONS & PARKING!
Light Vessel 21 is located at The Historic Dockyard Chatham behind 24/7 operated security gate access. If you are travelling by car to the event it is important that we receive your car registration plate number details prior to the event. Please email the details to info@lv21.co.uk as soon as possible and by Friday 4th July the latest. This ensures free parking and smooth access and exit through the automated ANPR system.
On arrival please drive in the Dockyard area via Western Avenue entrance along Main Gate Road and after the first set of security gates take the first left and follow the route along South Pondside Road / East Road to the next security gate. Please do not park at the large Visitor Car Park. Once through the gates please follow Main Gate Road across the Dockyard (max. speed of 10 miles per hour) until you see a helicopter on your right. Please park on the Helipad Car Park and walk the rest of the way along the footpath to Light Vessel 21 at Anchor Wharf. No parking is allowed at Anchor Wharf Car Park.
If you’re travelling by a taxi please ask to be dropped off / picked up at the Helipad Car Park and use the Western Avenue route in / out of the Dockyard.
If arriving by foot you are able to walk through the Main Gate off Dock Road but please note that this gate will be closed from 7pm so arrival after this and exit will be via the Western Avenue entrance. Please use the buzzer at the gate to gain entry. Do not enter the Dockyard through the vehicle access barrier.
Please see a handy detailed map for vehicle and pedestrian route directions on the LV21 website: https://lv21.co.uk/directions-to-lv21/
Many thanks for your cooperation on this.
