Noted author Mick Inkpen is our guest speaker at Nayland's 'Arts Soceity' meeting on Monday 12th May. 'In the main I think most of us still carry around the feeling that art, especially of the Turner Prize variety is something that hovers just above us, always slightly out of reach, not really part of us in the way that our music is. We don’t really know how to handle our response to it, but we reserve for it, at least in part, the doffed cap of our deference just in case; just in case we might turn out to be more philistine than we thought. . .'
