Event information
After the recent gig at The Lexington, London, Mick, John and Bruce have decided to have another gig for those that missed out and this time, in the Medway Delta where they can hold their R n R EP Launch Party which is being released on Spinout Nuggets record label.
The Masonics are still the Kings Of Medway Beat, and are known for being ‘the best Rhythm and Beat combo since The Milkshakes’, and there’s a very good reason for that.
The Medway based trio of Mickey Hampshire (The Milkshakes, Mickey And The Salty Seadogs, Mickey And Ludella), Bruce Brand (The Pop Rivets, The Milkshakes, Auntie Vegetable, Thee Headcoats, The Kravin’ “A”s, The Clique, Dutronc, The Voo-Dooms and more) and John Gibbs (The Wildebeests, The Kaisers), will be playing their rhythm ’n’ beat and rock ’n’ roll to you.
Supporting the chaps are The High Span who are a musical project based in Rochester, Kent and features three experienced, yet unjaded, musical souls in Kevin Younger (of Armitage Shanks, Ye Ascoyne d’Ascoynes, Subway Sect, Baby Birkin, The Speed of Sound and others), Mark Aitken (of Ye Ascoyne d’Ascoynes, The Men From Memphis, Bob Collins & The Full Nelson, These Guilty Men and others) and Jimmy Moore (of Pod, One Free Fall and revered Canadian alt-rockers Rusty). Sarah Post also joins them on backing vocals on the album and at live shows too.
The High Span unleashed their Quirky Miniboss Squad EP in August of 2020 (yeah, that year), and managed to grab attention from press and public alike, selected as one of Record Collector’s singles of the year. The High Span’s special blend is one of DIY post-pop jangle and edgier experimental sounds, of lyric-driven guitar-pop and English awkwardness. It’s been described as ‘sort of suburban Jake Thackray meets Stereolab’.
