Event information
Terence Blacker has been compared to a dizzying variety of singers - from Georges Brassens to Loudon Wainwright, from Billy Bragg to Jake Thackray - but his songs, by turns heartfelt and hilarious, are very much his own. He is, in the words of Folk London, ‘a one-off’.
Terence has performed at festivals, folk clubs and theatres in the UK and abroad. His latest one-man show Old Enough To Know Better, a celebration/investigation in song and word of age in the 21st century, has been entertaining audiences in theatres and folk clubs across the UK.
An earlier one-man show My Village and Other Aliens featured at the Edinburgh Fringe and he wrote and presented Taboo-Be-Do!, a two-part radio documentary on the history of politically incorrect songs for BBC Radio 4. His 2020 album Playing For Time was selected by the Sunday Times as one of its Top 100 Albums of the Year.
"We need cheering up right now and this singer-songwriter, sometimes tender, sometimes sardonic, is just the ticket." ~ Sunday Times
"It put a big smile on my face." ~ Tom Robinson, BBC6 Music
