Event information
The Montrose Playhouse & Mo' Fidelity Records are pleased to present an evening with Crysanths and L.T. Leif.
Chrysanths is Glasgow-based singer and composer Emily Scott. ‘Leave No Shadow’, released last year on Chemikal Underground, marks Scott's first solo record in the decade she has been the front-woman of chamber-pop band Modern Studies. A regular on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 6, listeners will be familiar with her distinctive odd time-signatures, nostalgic lyrics and expressive and intuitive instrumentation.
“Emily Scott’s voice is a beautiful thing. It flies like Sandy Denny, but has the wounded intimacy of Beth Gibbons and the precision of Christine McVie” (MOJO)
“Her voice is cool, clear and unsentimental, with echoes of some of the great English stylists, from Sandy Denny to Jacqui McShee” (UNCUT)
L.T. Leif released her beguiling album 'Come Back To Me, But Lightly' on Lost Map Records in 2023. She combines sonic experimentation with an impressive knack for melody. Based out of Glasgow and rooted in the DIY spirit of the Canadian prairies, L.T. Leif has have been involved in many bands and projects, from experimental noise collaborations with the infamous Bill Wells to playing sold-out shows with the punk-hearted OK JAZZ. She is a member of psych-rock supergroup Weird Wave alongside the likes of Pictish Trail and Susan Bear, and played a key role in Glasgow Dreamers, a band set up with Emma Pollock and others to recreate the music of Ivor Cutler.
“Beautifully contemplative” – Steve Lamaq, BBC radio 6
“One of those special types of songwriters, the kind of artist that can stop a day in its tracks, pull it apart, bend it this way and that, and transport the listener somewhere else entirely.” – Tom Johnson, Gold Flake Paint
