Event information
The Local are celebrating the launch of their ambitious new single ‘I Love This Pub’, a sprawling five-and-a-half minute folk rock epic. First written ten years ago, the song marked the climax of the original musical’s first act and has been a show-stopping staple of live performances since the band started gigging.
Join members Dominic Lo (lead vocals, guitar), Alex Pollard (bass, harmonium), Eilidh Pollard (lead vocals, violin), and Patrick McKenzie (mandolin, banjo) as they play songs from ‘The Local’ stage musical, alongside brand new tracks and covers. Expect big choruses, sweet harmonies, and fiery instrumental duels.
Leo HC:
Leo HC is a 20 year old acoustic alternative/folk musician born in Manchester and based in Sheffield. His debut album ‘We Don’t Talk Like We Used To’ released on the 8th of November and combines elements of traditional folk with heaps of reverb to create a dreamy melancholic atmosphere
The Dimestore Dirtbags:
The Dimestore Dirtbags are Sarah McConnell (guitar and vocals) and Randy Horton (bass and vocals). They play a mixture of alt-country originals and a few covers in a style reminiscent of Texas, a place they both called home for many years. Randy is a retired philosophy professor and writer. Sarah is a psychotherapist.
Gez Daring and Sarah Davenport:
Sarah and Gez have been playing music together in various line ups for almost 10 years. Sarah plays fiddle and occasionally clogs and Gez sings and strums various stringed instruments. Appearing here as a duet for the first time since 2019 they’ll be performing songs and tunes taken from or inspired by British and American folk traditions as well as sone folk-adjacent pop.
