Event information
“Here There Be Dragons and Fisher Kings,” are two original stories by award-winning storyteller, Jennifer Munro. Jennifer’s stories are detailed, image driven, laced with humour, and always beautifully crafted.
The first story, “The Dragon by the Side of the Road,” is the story of a troubled eighth grade student, my fear of failure, and the journey we both take, which forces us to confront the dragons sitting by our respective roads. Two ancient pieces of wisdom, the first from St. Cyril of Jerusalem, propels us onto the journey, and the other from a Buddhist monk brings about the transformation that results in the story’s satisfying conclusion.
“The Fisher King” relates how listening to the Arthurian legend, Percival and the Fisher King, shapes the epic journey of transformation taken by a group of teenagers into the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. The legend itself continually emerges at pivotal moments, specifically at the climax, so that the story becomes an artful blend of ancient times and contemporary life.
