Event information
Winter Wonderband are a chamber folk quartet with Saul Rose on melodeon (Faustus, War Horse, Waterson Carthy) & Maclaine Colston on hammered dulcimer (Pressgang, Kings of Calicutt) joined by Beth Porter (SpellSongs, Bookshop Band) on Cello and Jennifer Crook (Broken Road, Cythara) on harp and guitar.
With this beautiful combination of instruments, varied lead and harmony vocals, they play winter and festive themed music, traditional & modern, including original songs & settings by Jennifer. Collectively, they have played together in different formats for 30 years and that closeness shines through, with WWB formed in 2012.
Their debut album Joy Illimited (from the Darkling Thrush) is released November 2025, recorded and produced by Stuart Bruce. Illimited - unbounded & infinite joy.
FATEA MAGAZINE December 2023
"This unusual combination of instruments give the band a unique and distinctive sound, unlike any band that I have heard before. The best description I can find for their spine-tingling sound is "chamber folk" The entire concert was a joy from start to finish. If you have not had a chance to hear them live, do not despair as they are shortly going into the studio to record an album. Can't wait!" Peter Cowley
