Recognised as one of the leading Flamenco guitarists in the UK, Mark Boden has been playing the guitar for over 35 years, and teaching it for over 30 years in schools, privately and holding masterclasses. Having enjoyed a career playing in rock bands in the North East and wider region for over fifteen years he felt that it was time for a change.
Flamenco interested him for some years so he started to study it in a Flamenco school in Seville, Spain. He now performs his interpretations of Flamenco pieces, and composes Flamenco music with modern elements in it fusing Latin American, Jazz, Indian, Classical, Cuban, Blues and Rock.
Mark performs in the North East, North Yorkshire and wider UK region in his group, Mark Boden's Flamenco con Fusion. Previously, Mark has worked with Flamenco dance teachers accompanying their classes and playing for their shows. Regularly, he performs at music festivals which have included Musicport World Music Festival 2010, 2012, 2016, Stockton Riverside Festival 2010, 2024, World Fest, Middlesbrough Music Live, Acoustic Gathering, Roots North, Culture Shock Fest, Ingelton Festival and Classical Café to name a few, and he organises his own solo events. Mark has supported Tyketto frontman Danny Vaughn and he was a featured artist performing at Sonic Arts Week. Mark has performed several times on BBC Radio Tees and Zetland FM.
In his shows Mark performs either as a soloist or is accompanied by Phil Philo (guitar), James McCann (percussion/cajon) and Jamie Donnelly (bass). This show is a solo performance.
