Event information

Richard York headlines another night of wild and wonderful words at the Rectory Cottages in Bletchley.

Supported by the music of Gallows Fair and the fantastic stories of Lynette Hill and Stephen Hobbs.

Lou Tribus hosts another joyous evening of storytelling and acoustic music at the historic Rectory Cottages at 49 Church Green Rd, Bletchley, MK3 6BJ.

Richard York tells the tale of 'Rebeka,' blended from an ancient Hungarian story and its ancient Scottish relation. Sisters are sisters even when they drop you even deeper in it than they intended…

It’s a proper old fashioned fairy story, complete with a ravenous giant, a shining magical cabbage, and a brave and resourceful girl - what more could you wish for? And If you really want to stretch things there’s a resonance with ancient Persian stories and even a tenuous link to the Egyptian Osiris mythology. Plus a post-script link to contemporary South Africa and a pick-up truck.

Richard founded and still fronts Northampton’s Storytelling at the Feast of Fools; he’s been telling stories for a long time. The “where” list includes the Halsway Manor National Centre for Folk Arts, Guernsey’s Castle Cornet, and the V&A Museum among others. He also plays a wide range of instruments and often incorporates music into his storytelling performances.

This event is intended for ages 16 and older.

Doors open at 7 pm for a 7:30 pm start. Tickets are £7 online through WeGotTickets.com and £9 at the door.

Parking is free on Church Green Road and nearby. The Rectory Cottages are just a short walk from Bletchley’s railway station.
