Dead Horse

Dead Horse are a chaotic garage-punk outfit from in and around London, UK, blending twisted post-punk sensibilities with raw, DIY energy. Formed in 2019, the trio consists of Kevin Lennon (bass/vocals/sax – formerly of Love Buzzard and Scab Hand), Josh Kemp (guitar), and Duncan Clark (drums). Their music has drawn comparisons to the likes of Jay Reatard, The Cramps, and 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster – full of sardonic lyricism, serrated riffs, and an infectious sense of menace.
Their debut EP, Dead Horse I (2020), was a feral introduction, packed with jagged hooks and no-frills, sub-two-minute ragers like “Night” that earned praise from indie tastemakers and punk blogs alike.
In 2022, they released their second EP, Hot Martyr, which marked a turning point for the band. With the addition of organs, synths, sax, the record showcased a darker, more cinematic dimension. Tracks like “Sticks” and “Snake Eyes” blend punk urgency with eerie textures, pushing their sound into new, more experimental territory.
2024’s Ménagerie Trois continued this evolution. The single “Silver Spoons” took aim at the entitlement embedded in the UK’s creative industries, while “Truth” layered sci-fi surf guitar with B-movie absurdity and garage rock filth – a sonic mission statement for a band that never takes itself too seriously, even when the message cuts deep.
Dead Horse are also currently working on their first full-length album, set for release later in 2025 – a project that promises to bring their unhinged sound and pointed satire to a whole new level.
Known for their visceral live shows, Dead Horse have gigged extensively across London, tearing up stages at The Shacklewell Arms, Sebright Arms, Blondies and beyond. Whether through their jagged riffs, sneering vocals, or warped stage presence, they’ve built a cult following among fans of wild, unfiltered punk noise.

Jack Goldstein

Jack Goldstein has completed his new solo album, a 46 minute 'hyper-country' odyssey through the backwoods of love, identity and resilience in the face of a world turned upside down.
Following on from the 🌍 is ending and i ❤️ u, an album about losing both his parents during the lockdown, HELLFIRE BUMPER STICKER COWPUNCHING JEWBOY is an album that
transforms Goldstein's grief into strength and resilience.
After finding modest success with the band Fixers in the early 2010s, Margate’s Goldstein - who was more enamored with heavier brands of rock music before going down the Beach Boys
rabbit hole - struck out solo. He (partially) jokes it was to escape multi-part harmony, but the truth shines through in the records. Fixers - which in many ways rode the late-2000s/early-2010s indie psych pop wave established with bands such as MGMT, AnCo,
Yeasayer and others - gives way to a sound that might incorporate a similar aesthetic backbone, but shifts melody and mode at the drop of a dime, pulling in country as a primary influence
(‘erratic psychedelic country pop’ might be the simplest way to describe the record’s sound) on the new record, but also drawing from hip-hop, ambient, and field recording to create what might
be 2025’s most wildly ambitious album.
