Event information
With the Dime Notes away in Normandy, friend-of-the-band and occasional Dime Note Harry Evans has kindly agreed to step in to keep the stage hot and toes tapping!
Harry is a double-bassist and trumpeter in demand across London’s early jazz and swing dance scenes, and a familiar face to Jamboree audiences as a member of the Cable Street Rag Band, Fleeting Paradise Orchestra and Elise Roth’s Harvard Squares. He is also a keen Lindy Hop and Collegiate Shag dancer, and can usually be spotted before and after his performances taking a turn on the dancefloor!
He’ll be presenting two sets inspired by the original “Jazz revival” of the late 1930s, when the older generation of musicians mixed the new, hard-hitting beat of Swing with the tunes of the 1920s. Expect music in the vein of Sidney Bechet, Muggsy Spanier and Louis Armstrong, perfectly suited for dancers and listeners alike!
