Event information
Daniel Kemshell and Olly Chalk first met in Birmingham over ten years ago. Since then their friendship and musicianship has blossomed through frequent collaboration. In 2023, they released their debut EP ‘Impromptus’ which feature five crystalline miniatures that explore fragility, dissonance and deep-space beauty. They are now working on their first album, with material that explores themes of splintering, brittleness in nature and telekinesis.
Daniel Kemshell is a guitarist, originally from Aberdeen, Scotland. He actively plays an eclectic range of music: performing original music as a sideman (Byron Wallen’s Hurricane Bells, Snackwall), as a performer in theatre, and writing and recording for an upcoming release with his trio; a power-guitar-trio lineup with impressive sonic range.
Olly Chalk is an improvising pianist and composer based in South-East London. Described as 'ferocious and original’ and a ‘virtuoso with a compelling and unique musical vision’, Chalk is a refreshing, iconoclastic voice in contemporary British improvised music.
Rebecka Edlund is a Swedish singer, lyricist and composer with a soft spot for the ocean, anecdotes and rusty orange. Her music is a concoction of jazz and Scandinavian folk music, herding calls, bird whistles and other peculiar sounds, exploring freely improvised storytelling and contemporary songwriting.
