Gypsy Dreams
Sharon Hubbocks and Tim Heming are two seasoned performers creating their own take on acoustic Gypsy music from Europe and around the world. Using violin and guitar, but also including clarinet, viola and tenor banjo, they encompass styles such as French, Irish, Klezmer, Greek, classical, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Russian, tangos and bossas, plus popular tunes from the classical repertoire and elsewhere. Sharon and Tim have spent years researching their chosen musical passions and delight in conveying their enthusiasm to their audience.
The Orchard Café Quartet
This string quartet's music is the perfect blend of traditional and contemporary string quartet music. Listeners will be taken on a journey through Denmark, Norway and Sweden through contemporary folk music arrangements that sound like they could be on a film soundtrack. The programme will feature a number of arrangements written by The Danish String Quartet as well as some of their own original folk tune arrangements. There will also be a couple of original compositions by local folk musician Ali Jones.
The quartet consists of Sharon Hubbocks and Rebecca Willson on violins, Poppy Holton on Viola and Siri White on Cello. Whilst all the players had a traditional classical music training, each person brings their own expertise and influences from: Baroque and Early Music, Eastern European Folk Music, Gypsy Jazz and Improvisation. This unique blend of music and players will create a night of music you won't hear anywhere else.
