FAIRY TALES ARE JUST FOR CHILDREN AREN’T THEY?
No!
In a 1-hour talk author Marilyn Pemberton explains the history of the fairy tale and, using one well-known fairy tale as an example, shows how and why tales have been re-told and purposefully changed and sanitised over the years.
She refers to some of the Victorian fairy tales that challenged rather than condoned prevalent ideologies and finish by reading a fairy tale that is included in Marilyn's novel, A Teller of Tales.
The talks will be of interest to libraries, WI, U3A, history societies, reading groups and lovers of Fairy Tales.
