We are delighted that this years choirs are:
PECKHAM RYE SINGS
Peckham Rye Sings is a vibrant and friendly community choir based in Peckham, led by local choir leader Xenia Davis. They sing joyful and uplifting songs, from pop arrangements to lullabies, and from countries spanning the British Isles, southern Africa, eastern Europe, north America and Georgia, and are well known for audience participation. The choir meets on Monday evenings from 7.30-9pm at the Copleston Centre Peckham, and this year are celebrating their 10th birthday.
"Peckham Rye Sings is a fun and friendly community choir based in Peckham and led by local choir leader Xenia Davis (who) sing beautiful a cappella folk, gospel and world music songs in 3 and 4 part harmony. All songs are taught by ear." (naturalvoice.net)
TONGUE AND GROOVE CHOIR
Tongue & Groove are an amateur non-audition choir that teams a professional Musical Director from theatre with talented and dedicated amateur performers. T&G are all about entertaining and engaging their audience! Formed in 2017 by Caroline Smith & Robin Thompson, T&G have performed live on BBC Radio London and have recently sung at the ChoirBlast festival in Godalming and at The Amateur Manchester Choral Competition. T&G rehearse Tuesday evenings in East Dulwich from 7:30 to 9:30pm.
"Born from a love of performing, Tongue & Groove is ... all about engaging with the audience and putting on a good show (combining) the best of community choirs, with a strong focus on movement and performance. T&G have ... participated in theatrical performances for companies such as The Young Vic, The National Theatre, VoiceLab and Spitalfield’s Music Festival." (Making Music)
SOUTH LONDON VOICES
South London Voices (formerly Bermondsey Voices) was founded by singer Kristina Nilsson in May 2012 and the choir has performed at countless events and places in London such as The Lord Mayor's Show, The Young Vic, St John's Waterloo, Bermondsey Carnival, Bermondsey Folk Music Festival, Bermondsey Street Festival, and Southbank Centre. If you can hold a tune and love to sing, contact Kristina on 07932 664 832 or visit their Instagram @south.london.voices or https://www.love-singing.co.uk/south-london-voices
PALACE ACAPELLA with BECKENHAM ACAPELLA (collaborative)
"Palace Acappella is a non-auditioned community choir based in the heart of Crystal Palace ... and have recently taken part in the UK Choir Festival in Berlin (and) opened the final concert at the prestigious Berlin Philharmonie. Beckenham Acappella is a new community choir in Beckenham, also non-auditioned and sister choir to Palace Acappella. Fresh, enthusiastic and courageous. Both choirs were co-founded by local choir leader Eleanor Rastall and local resident Laura Stevens. Community is of great importance to ... both choirs, as is a safe space to explore and develop our voices and skills." (Eleanor Rastall)
Come and support your favorite choir and raise the roof of St Faith's Church with an array of music.
