Event information
The Feathered Thorns are Polly Wright and Jason Wick who are long term collaborators on a wide range of commissioned work for Theatre, Poetry, Film and Installation.
They create compelling, explorative music which defies classification of genre and is in turn beguiling, unsettling, visceral, spectral, romantic and raw. It weaves themes like folklore fantasy, domestic truth and filmic dream scenes, into beautifully crafted vignettes featuring imaginary characters depicted in states ranging from desperate fragility to sharp toothed menace, against a backdrop of lonely country lanes, haunted houses and threadbare, seaside hotel rooms. With their perceptive balance of tender and grit, the songs are startling and emotive in their atmosphere and drama, producing an authentic raw tonal palette over a haunting collage of lo- fi soundscapes, created using voices, guitar, piano and sampled sounds.
“A spectral fog of acoustic authenticity and jarring electronic interference. Bungay is the new Seattle.”
Stewart Lee, for The Idler on The Feathered Thorns’ WITCH.
"Sinister, naked/raw, intimate, powerful and at times uncomfortably beautiful too... sonically akin to a peculiar delight when picking at a scab or playing with an infected tooth.”
Simon Scott, Slowdive
