Walthamstow's premier jazz night featuring London and the UK's finest musicians. 8pm every first Thursday of the month at Walthamstow Trades Hall.

Our two tier pricing system aims to strike a balance between making our event accessible for all, whilst trying to ensure we can pay the musicians a fair wage for their performance. Please consider paying the full ticket price of £10 if you can, to help support our musicians, and help to cover the deficit from the lower priced tickets and numerous payments involved in running the night.

This month we invite two musicians who are equally adept in their improvising as they are in their compositional skills. We're excited to hear some original music composed by both Reiss Beckles and Jamie Pye, who released their debut recordings last year.

Reiss Ellis Beckles, a dynamic saxophonist, composer, and educator. Based in the bustling metropolis of London, Reiss epitomizes versatility and diversity, seamlessly traversing genres from jazz to pop to hip hop with finesse and flair.
A graduate of the esteemed Trinity Laban Conservatoire Of Music and Dance and New York's Aaron Copland School Of Music, Queens College. Reiss honed his craft in jazz performance and composition, earning a bachelor's and master's degree that has served as a springboard for his development in the music world.
From the intimate ambiance of Smalls Jazz Club to the iconic stages of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Reiss's performances have captivated audiences worldwide. His debut record 'World's Apart' was released during the London Jazz Festival 2024, a sold out show at Pizza Express' The Pheasantry.

Jazz guitarist and composer Jamie Pye, graduated from The Victorian College of the Arts (Australia) in 2018, relocated to Pōneke/Wellington in New Zeakand to continue up-skilling at the New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī and has now relocated to East London where he continues to perform with his Quartet at Venues such as The Vortex Jazz Club, Jazz in The Round (Cockpit Theatre) and The Muddy Puddle.

As a composer, Jamie draws influence from all music and art forms, creating music with the intention of honest storytelling and narrative. His compositions are as complex as they are harmonically-rich, while still remaining musically accessible to all ears. You can listen to his latest album 'Monochrome' on all streaming platforms.

This evening Reiss + Jamie will be performing alongside Rowan Hudson (Piano), Ross Anderson (Bass) and Mark Hale (Drums).
