Event information
Alasdair is a legendary comedian, in that there is little historical evidence that he exists. But he does exist. And he is freshly returned from a victorious Edinburgh Fringe where he received five-star reviews and the acclaim of king of British alternative comedy, Stewart Lee.
He is a regular panelist on BBC Radio 4's The News Quiz, as well as appearing on 8 out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, Comedy Central Live and at the Glastonbury Festival. He knows quite a lot about 19th century magicians. Tourists often ask to have their photo taken with him, presumably impressed by this. When the world went to pot with the plague he has become a viral phenomenon with his incredible self-produced sketch videos, each of them worthy of a TV commission on its own. He's skewered everything from Hercule Poirot to Swedish noir to point and click adventure games. These videos led to a sell out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a couple of successful national tours. Alasdair is also an acclaimed children's author, podcaster and computer game designer. We have no idea where he finds the time either?
"Clockwork comedy perfection." Stewart Lee
"A singular and truly distinct act, Alasdair Beckett-King creates his own multi-faceted world." The Scotsman
"Extraordinary show: erudite, daft, punning, rammed with gags, rich in characters...you couldn’t possibly ask for more." Chortle
