Magpie Lane Oxford Christmas concert

Five-piece folk band Magpie Lane have been playing seasonal concerts at the Holywell Music Room every year since 1993, and these Christmas shows have become very much part of the Oxford musical landscape. The tradition continues this year, but in a new venue – the Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in New Inn Hall Street.

This is a slightly larger, equally attractive concert venue, with rather more comfortable seats, all of which actually face the stage! It’s even closer to the city centre – just off George Street – providing easy access whether you come into Oxford by bus or train.

Expect traditional folk carols from Oxfordshire and further afield, wassail songs, plus secular songs and tunes on the theme of Christmas, Winter and the turn of the year… powerful solo and harmony vocals… a range of acoustic instruments including fiddle, concertina, cello, whistles, guitar, bouzouki, and percussion.
