Event information

Dusk Over Rivelin consists of Poet Adrian Scott, Singer Wilma Scott, Guitarist and Fiddle Player Andy Selman, Double Bass and Electric Bassist Mike Smith, and Percussionist Paul Evans. The group began with a collaboration between Adrian Scott and Andy Selman. Adrian had published a collection of poetry about the city titled "A Sheffield Traipsing," which inspired Andy to compose musical accompaniments for the poems. This collaboration resulted in two albums: Made In Sheffield and Assayed & Tensile. To perform these works, they enlisted Wilma, Mike, and Paul and have since performed at various venues across the city, including Cafe #9, South Street Kitchen, The New Barracks Tavern, Kelham Island Museum, and Crookes Social Club. As they rehearsed, the group also explored songwriting and is currently working on an album of accompanied poems and original songs. They were invited to perform at the Nether Edge Festival and will be playing at St Andrew's Church on Psalter Lane.
With melodies that echo through the hills and verses that capture the essence of fleeting moments, Dusk Over Rivelin invites you to immerse yourself in an evening where art transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. Every performance is a celebration of Sheffield's indomitable spirit and its ever-evolving narrative. Along with songs that capture the beauty and challenge of life and finding ourselves getting older each year.
Dusk Over Rivelin derived their name from the Rivelin Valley, a hidden gem located in the north of Sheffield. Walking through this valley reveals breathtaking sunsets. This inspired them to believe that dusk is one of the most beautiful times, comparable to the dusk time of our lives.
Come along and experience all this for yourselves.
