Saturday night with the fantastic Doomsday Dance Band at Jamboree playing interplanetary funk-rock-dance music here on earth. Expect a thrilling multi-media, multi-sensory show...
THE DOOMSDAY DANCE BAND comprise three local boys from the Alpha Centauri system and a human bassist called Dave. Some years ago, they came across NASA's Voyager probe, just as it was inching into Interstellar Space. Thrilled by the sounds on the Golden Record attached to the side, DDB became instant fans of "Earth Music" and developed their own human-inspired funk-rock stylings. After a decade of space travel, DDB finally made it to our planet - only to discover that it was in a bit of a bad way. So they have come to remind us of the beauty of your planet and its cultural heritage: let the Earth Music ring out and let the people dance to it - while there's still time!
While on Earth, DDB's members have done their best to integrate with human cultural activities, forging reputations as directors of TV soap operas, composers of off-Broadway musicals and creators of large-scale community song-cycles. Now they are bringing their startling origin story VOYAGERS to pubs, clubs, festivals and parties across the land. It's a gig, it's a multi-media show, it's a laugh - and you can dance to it all!
In support, Theo Bard is a singer/songwriter creating compositions reminiscent of The XX, Ry X and Rufus Du Sol, all bound together with the spirit of Leonard Cohen. “This is midnight music – each element set against a jet-black sky so that its beauty and light can twinkle.”
Jamboree food option: Our ‘Zer’ kitchen is open from 5pm serving delicious Middle Eastern fusion food for you to enjoy a pre-gig meal/snack if you wish!
