Pound Land are coming back to The Foxlowe on Nov 8th with The Dirt and Dai Coelacanth.
POUND LAND.
East & West Midlands combine to form noise-rock, punk-rock, vitriol and polemic.
"If you like deeply idiosyncratic, spasmodic, jerky music that spreads its influences in every direction from Dub to Grunge and ties it all together with maschinenklang percussion and vocals that are designed specifically to annoy, then Pound Land might be for you. " Dark Juan 2025
THE DIRT
Found amidst the Manchester underground, sonic psych punk duo Dirt are a transglobal collaboration between Japanese musician Sachiko and partner Jack (aka Leon the pig Farmer), a spoken word artist they combine Psych shoe gaze guitars, electronic rhythms and abrasive spoken verse. The Dirt blend guitar loops. punchy percussion and fast firing lyrics full genre bending effect.
"No one is doing this at the moment where repetitive drone, flirting surf and ear-splitting pedals effects leave you in a trance” (Louder Than War)
DAI CEOLACANTH
Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. "Dai Coelacanth is a strange sort of wandering poet, dealing with spoken word, spliced and multiple cut-ups; his technique might be quite crude but it's very effective and only a short spell listening to his unique brand of verbal spew mixed with found aural debris and unidentified noise is enough to unhinge any listener" (The Sound Projector)
EMPTY CUT
Empty Cut are Douglas Fielding-Smith and Robert Bollard, who started making music in the late 80’s in a hardcore band called McMingo Juice. After two decades on their own musical pathways they decided to join forces again, this time incorporating the influences of the last 20 years, first as Squalor Fan and then transforming into Empty Cut in 2020.
Mixing together drums, bass, samples, effects and vocals they have created a sound that incorporates punk, hardcore, electronica, jazz, drum’n’bass, experimental-industrial and shoegaze.
They released their debut album ‘Allens Cross' earlier in the year on Cruel Nature Records. Inspired by their childhood growing up in Birmingham they blend together all their experience and inspirations to create a noise that holds a heavy solid groove mixed with harsh noise and fuzzed out reverbed bass, topped with psychedelic synths, and chopped and screwed vocals.
