When Miss Flower died in 2019, a suitcase packed with hundreds of 1960s and 1970s love letters, written to her by smitten men, was found in her London flat. Based on the discovery, this special event features the film The Extraordinary Miss Flower, a danced response by Deep Roots Tall Trees Dancetheatre led by Neil Paris and, finally, a choice between a movement workshop led by Neil Paris and a discussion between a dancer and an artistic director.

Hidden in a battered leather suitcase for over fifty years, hundreds of love letters to Miss Geraldine Flower, found by her daughter after her mother’s death, are transformed into a highly original film. The Extraordinary Miss Flower is a captivating documentary, featuring dance and song, that reimagines her life.
For this special Sunday matinee event, DOCS+ have brought together the film, an improvised danced response, a movement workshop and a discussion. Our guests are Neil Paris, Artistic Director of Deep Roots Tall Trees Dancetheatre; Ros Stoddart, artist, and dancer with Deep Roots Tall Trees; and Di Goldsmith, founder of Peterborough based UROCK Youth Theatre.
