Event information
Griffin & Collier is the new project from the founders of global folk band Mishra, Kate Griffin and Ford Collier. Their music highlights the interplay between Kate's songwriting style that sits in a unique space somewhere between strongly rooted folk/Americana and mellow contemporary pop, and Ford's deftly woven low whistle melodies.
The duo began to solidify their sound while on a two-month tour of Aotearoa, New Zealand in 2024, and the music on their new EP has a strong tie to that time and place, with each track named after and inspired by a feature of the country's natural beauty. Their recordings are an even more intricate studio translation of their multi-limbed live arrangements, in which the duo play bass and percussion with their feet while singing and playing banjo, whistles and guitar.
With Mishra, Kate and Ford have extensively toured UK venues and festivals, and received national radio play for their two albums Reclaim and The Loft Tapes. In 2022, they travelled to Mozambique to record an album with virtuoso traditional percussionist Matchume Zango, and in 2024 composed the music for a new adaptation of "The Secret Garden" at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.
