Event information
Andrew Benson-Wilson specialises in the performance of early music, ranging from 14th-century manuscripts to the late Classical period. His playing is informed by his experience of historic organs and an understanding of period performance techniques. The first of his CDs of the complete Tallis organ works (with Chapelle du Roi) was Gramophone Magazine Record of the Month. This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Goetze & Gwynn Organ at St Lawrence’s. Andrew gave the first recital on the new instrument in 1995 and returns to perform a programme of 17th century English music. The organ is based on the surviving parts of the 1716 Gerard Smith organ, played by Handel. This anniversary recital will honour the lives of the organ builders Martin Goetze and Dominic Gwynne.
Refreshments after the recital are included in the cost of the ticket.
The Friends of St Lawrence is a registered charity (Number 266536).
