Event information
Now that 16 and 17 year olds will be eligible to vote at the next general election, what better time to explore the future vision the upcoming generation has for politics, democracy and the planet.
If you are aged 25 and under and will be eligible to vote by July 4 2029, this event is for you. With the guidance of experienced time traveller and author of How to Fall in Love with the Future, Rob Hopkins, we invite young people to help shape a narrative for positive change. Rumour has it that Rob might even bring his actual time machine with him!
Rob has written several books on community-led change, has spoken at TEDGlobal, in front of 7,000 people at Boomtown Festival, to 700 chefs in Copenhagen and is currently creating a comic book about time travel.
The session will run from 14:30 to 16:30 and it is hoped that some sort of collective manifesto will emerge by the end – a manifesto which can be shared with progressive parties and democracy campaigners.
Participants do not need to be ‘into’ politics, especially party politics, as such, only to be interested in exploring possibilities and sharing ideas and visions for a better future in a fun and playful setting.
The event is not connected to any political party, but is supported by Anthea Simmons, progressive democracy campaigner and editor-in-chief of West Country Voices, a progressive, online, citizen journalism-powered newspaper.
