Event information
Superb jazz vocalist Sarah Harris comes to Broadhempston for the first time. She is inspired by the likes of Jeff Buckley, Etta James, Chet Baker, Carmen McRae and Aretha Franklin. As a full time professional singer Sarah has performed with nationally acclaimed groups such as, Urban Voices Collective and The Dap Kings (backing band for Amy Winehouse and Sharon Jones). She has been a stalwart of the Brighton Jazz scene for the last 14 years and brings a fresh and soulful approach to Jazz.
Extraordinary pianist Will Butterworth is a prominent figure in the local jazz scene and played a hugely successful gig at Broadhempston Hall, alongside Marcus Vergette, in January this year. He has worked with many of the UK’s finest musicians, including Martin Speake, Bill Brufford, Dylan Howe, Asaf Sirkis and Jeff Williams to name but a few. He has 5 acclaimed albums to his name and is regularly played on jazz FM, radio 3 and classic FM.
Marcus Vergette is a sculptor and bass player who captivates his audiences with his extraordinary musicianship and extrovert personality. He has been a featured composer and band leader on Radio 3, and is a regular Bass Player for Mike Westbrook.
Ronnie Jones is an exceptionally sensitive and talented jazz drummer who played alongside Simon Spillett at the first ever Broadhempston gig. His own quartet regularly performs at many well-known West Country jazz venues and has appeared at jazz festivals including Ealing, Plymouth, Teignmouth, Marlborough and Cheltenham. He is a regular at Ronnie Scott's in London playing alongside the great Alec Dankworth and piano legend John Horler.
