Next up for G O.O! We are absolutely buzzing for this one! Welcoming the intense and harrowing Scottish industrial // noise two-piece Mrs Frighthouse to Oxford!!
Mrs Frighthouse are Carys and Luna Frighthouse, a wife-and-wife industrial noise metal duo from Glasgow. Their unique blend of harsh sonic dissonance and chaos combined with beautiful heart-wrenching vocals has seen them share lineups with a diverse range of artists including Inter Arma, Wallowing, Cwfen, Meth. and Zetra.
They show unflinching directness when writing about traumatic experiences and injustices. They confront issues of misogyny, homophobia and transphobia in performances that feel in equal parts disturbing and cathartic.
The band name ‘Mrs Frighthouse’ came about from the fact that they really are ‘Mrs and Mrs’. ‘Queerbaiting’ and the sexualisation of queer women for the male gaze have been rife for decades, while portraying genuine romance and commitment between two women unfortunately still remains subversive. The pair want to combat the invisibility and erasure queer women experience with their music.
In support we are stoked to be hosting the blistering and experimental noise two-piece She The Throne.
She The Throne are a Ritual Noise 2 piece from Manchester UK. They aim to bring forth an ancient latent rhythmic union merging themselves, the space they play with, the audience who listens, urging them to remember. Musically incorporating elements of industrial music and harsh noise with the darker melody of bands like Portishead,
fused to the backbone of experimental hip hop.
Opening the night of heavy duos will be atmospheric and claustrophobic Oxford-based doom//noise two-piece Holy Wounds. Described by Nightshift Magazine as - "A demonic brew of Hellish barks, metal bashing, intercepted radio signals from the netherworld and Gregorian howls. Church of Satan ecclesiastical horrorcore that is almost suffocating in its intensity".
