Event information
Join Poetry Mondays for our most ambitious theme yet: A DREAM DEFERRED. Poets and singer-songwriters gather to sing and read about our dreams, our frustrations, our longings, our imagination and the power of extending the realms of the possible. Based on the poem by Langston Hughes, 'Harlem' London's fieriest bards will gather to sing and recite around the subject of the oneiric realm.
This edition features a headline set by London's dreamiest punk folk band, 'Diego Brown and The Good Fairy.'
Hosted by Gibraltarian poet and singer-songwriter, Gabriel Moreno.
Harlem
By Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
